Sailing By-Laws
   
Championship
     
1. maximum of five (5) heats with
  (1). A championship is to be held over a max the' best four to count to a yacht's total point.
Division
     
2. Races are to be completed in three divisions except for the Eliminations Series which are for Divisions (a) & (c) only.
  (1) Division (a) ONE-UP SENIOR
  (2) Division (b) TWO-UP SENIOR
  (3) Division (c) TWO-UP JUNIOR
   
Crews
     
3. Crews for the Divisions are as follows:
  (a) ONE-UP SENIOR - SENIOR SKIPPER-
  (b) TWO-UP SENIOR - EITHER SKIPPER OR FOR'D HAND SENIOR
  (c) TWO-UP JUNIOR - JUNIOR SKIPPER & JUNIOR FOR'D HAND
   
5. Age Of Crews
     
  Junior Sailors
    Sailing two up, both of whose 12th birthdays fall on or after the
lst July immediately preceding the current championship
  Senior Sailors
   

Sailing one up and whose 12th birthday falls prior to the 1st July immediately preceding the current championships and who 16th birthday falls on or after 1st July preceding the current championships.

   
Nominated Skippers
     
5. Skippers nominated ' for the championship.-are to skipper -the boat at all times--.during all heats.
6. Alternative penalties for infringement of a rule shall be used. Appendix 3 -1 (720 turns).
   
7. Time limit not to exceed 3 1/2 hours.
   
8. Round the end rule shall apply to all starts.
   
9. Scoring shall be by Addendum A-2 alternative scoring system, specifying the number of heats to be sailed - See Item (2).
   
10. Safety - The current AYF Safety Regulations -applying to "Off the beach yachts" shall be applicable to the championship series.
   
11. Entries: Rule 19 "Measurement Certificates" shall apply.
   
12. For'ard hands are-to sheet the boat at all times, except in extenuating circumstances and in the true spirit of fair sailing
(Refer Fundamental Rule "C")
   
13. Handicapping that may apply is by averaging a boat's last three club handicaps and adding the Association handicap as calculated at the General Meeting prior to the event.
   
14. No maximum limit on entries per club.
Minimum of 6 entries must be received, in writing, in any division to qualify for championship racing.
   
15. Entries to close no less than five (5) days before each heat. Entries are to be submitted on correct entry forms and accompanied by the fees payable.
   
16. Where required entries are to include the last three (3) club handicaps, such handicaps to be in writing and authorised by an official from the entrant's club.
